Summer has slipped by and although there’s still plenty of flying weather before winter’s arrival, now is a good time to start thinking about your next project. Take a look at some of the new offerings for Giant Scale modelers in the paragraphs below. It might get those building juices flowing!
RC GIANTS
August 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I. In Europe, where much of the conflict was fought, numerous events have been planned throughout the next four years to mark specific dates in the war. It is difficult to explain the sacrifices made by so many to a generation of people who has never met anyone who experienced the conflict, as it slips inexorably beyond living memory.

Welcome back to the “RC Giants” column. Thank goodness the winter of 2013-2014 is a thing of the past. It seemed as though it was never going to end.
RC Giants 2014/04
Friends Mike Laible and Herman Burton, from Seabrook, Texas, collaborated to build this beautiful 1/9-scale B-24J from Don Smith Plans. Mike agreed to build the fuselage and tail feathers while Herman constructed the wing. The model spans 146 inches, weighs 53 pounds dry, and is powered by four O.S. Alpha series 110 four-stroke engines swinging 15 x 7 three-blade propellers.
