Welcome back to the “RC Giants” column. Well, they’re fi nally here, the
dog days of summer. I hope your winter modeling projects have been
successfully completed and you’re in the midst of a great fl ying season.
Plan to attend a local fl ying event. You’ll see old friends and great models, and
more than likely there will be freshly barbecued burgers available!
RADIO CONTROL GIANTS - 2005/04
OUR HOBBY/SPORT has seen a marked increase in Giant
Scale ARF models. Aircraft from the dawn of powered flight and
the Golden Age to the ever-popular World War II fighters and
beyond are now available in ARF form. This is wonderful for
those who lack the time, patience, or even skill level to get an RC
Giant into the air. Many other modelers who do like to build have
also added an ARF or two to their stables.
Radio Control Giants - 2011/04
WELCOME BACK. Spring is right around
the corner, and those of us who live in colder
climates are looking forward to a change in
the weather so that we can resume flying
models and other outdoor activities. At least
those are the thoughts I should have as I put
the finishing touches on this column.
RADIO CONTROL GIANTS 2003/11
WELCOME TO the November 2003 Radio Control (RC) Giants
column. I have finally finished the Aviomodelli CANT Z.1007bis
Italian bomber kit from Internet RC. I’ve included a picture of the
completed 90-inch-span model along with my 7-year-old son for
perspective.

SINCE LAST
month’s column,
I was able to
complete the large
wing fillets on the
1/4-scale Polikarpov
I-16. I sanded the
initial, heavy layer
of finishing resin
mixed with
microballoons and
gave the fillets a
second, lighter skim
coat. The 1/32
aircraft-grade
plywood saddles,
blue foam material,
and finishing
resin/microballoons worked well together in constructing the fillets.
