Although you’re probably reading this a few months into 2014, 2013 was a memorable year worthy of a look back. Last year marked one of the larger District II fly-ins in recent memory, and the event’s return to a New Jersey location.
District II 2014/02
No other hobby matches the generosity and giving found in model aviation. Our first National Model Aviation Day that generated over $75,000 for America’s wounded warriors is proof of this. Although modelers have fun building and flying, they share the fun and utilize our hobby to help communities and charities the entire year.
District II 2014/01
The latest technology has always been a part of our hobby. When it comes to the competition scene, the latest radio systems, and the lightest, most cost-effective, and strongest aircraft are used. Even modelers in genres such as FF and CL have expertly employed new methods, materials, and techniques throughout the years.
AMA News District II - 2013/04
Education is fundamental to aeromodeling and AMA clubs. Hawks Junior RC Aviators is the youth program of the Oswego Valley Modelaires (OVM). Started in 2002 and lead by instructors Dennis Redhead and Tim Pease, the program has “graduated” more than 120 students! Club visitors are invited to try a demo flight, so hundreds more have experienced flight!

Numerous District II clubs rang in 2013 with New Year’s Day chili fun-flys and winter picnics. There were so many I couldn’t picture them all.
