District II
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey was the site of the base’s open house and air show May 10-11, 2014. I was fortunate to be there with the New Jersey Pine Barons members who were asked to perform in front of 250,000 estimated spectators. The club did two performances each day and set up static display areas with 20-plus aircraft and 10 simulators under six tents.

Model aviation has always been a foundation for aviation professionals. Many full-scale pilots, aeronautical engineers, and others say their interest in aviation began with model aviation in their youth.

The 12th annual District II Fly-In is coming to Long Island, New York, at a special place and date! The August 16-17, 2014, Fly-In celebrates National Model Aviation Day in support of the Wounded Warrior Project. Located at the historic and spacious Calverton Executive Airpark in Riverhead, New York, the enormous airpark was once the site of development, testing, and production of Grumman Corporation’s F-14 Tomcat and E-2C Hawkeye aircraft.
District II 2014/05
Making its first appearance in District II, AMA’s Mobile RC Experience trailer was a big hit at the Westchester Radio Aero Modelers (WRAM) Show, February 21-23, 2014. With five simulator stations and a large video monitor for displaying model aviation videos, the AMA trailer saw nonstop activity Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of WRAM Show weekend.
