District II - 2015/01
All modelers lost a great friend in District II Leader Member Don Typond, who passed away this past fall. Don served as District II’s representative to AMA’s Scale Contest Board and he was an accomplished professional in the publishing and model aircraft industries. This biography from the February 1997 Electric Flyers Only of Commerce Township Michigan newsletter, The Ampeer, best describes him.
District II - 2014/12
The Aero Guidance Society (AGS) of Endicott, New York, was formed in 1954 in to promote and advance the sport of building and flying RC aircraft. In the club’s 60 years, it has hosted numerous high-profile events. During the 2014 Labor Day weekend, the AGS hosted the Vintage RC Society’s (VR/CS) 25th Annual Spirit of Selinsgrove Reunion.
District II - 2014/11
The hugely successful 12th annual District II Fly-In was held August 16-17, 2014, at the former Grumman F-14 assembly plant in Riverhead, New York, on Long Island. Located on the site's 7,000 foot runway, modelers had space for every type of flying. Scale, 3-D, foamies, electrics, turbines, helicopters, multicopters, CL, Soaring, and even some FF aircraft flew at the National Model Aviation Day event to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

I’m frequently asked how clubs can increase their membership. Almost as often I’m told by club officers that they’ve tried various methods with little success. Key to successful club building efforts is not just the techniques, but understanding promotional efforts bring incremental, yet significantly important results.
District II - 2014/09
On June 28, 2014, I had the pleasure of attending the Syracuse Thunderbirds Aero Radio Society’s Heli Jam. Numerous helicopters from near and far were flown, including machines piloted by our visiting Canadian neighbors. Scale, sport, and other machines flew for spectators.
