AN ELECTRIC MEET has been announced by the Westmoreland Electric Soaring Society in the Pittsburgh (PA) area for July 17, 1988. The event will be held on the Mon Valley RC Club field, which is located in a state park and which is readily accessible from Exit 8 (New Stanton) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Bob Markle of RJM Systems sent me the early info, and for more details you can write to him at Unit #3 Sandy Hill Road, RD #6, Irwin, PA 15642. Don't let the "Soaring" part of the club name fool you-those guys fly all kinds of Electrics! Bob has been a regular attendee at KRC Electric Flys in the past, and tells me that the WESS group has 29 active Electric fliers of its own.

TWO ELECTRIC MEETS start off this month's column. First, not too long after you get this issue, is the First Annual Lehigh Valley Radio Control Electric Fun-fly. This is a two-day meet scheduled for June 18-19 at the Lehigh Valley club field near Easton, PA. Complete details are not available as I write this, but all will be known by the time you read it! Just write or call Ellis Grumer, 321 Aurora St., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 (or phone him at 201/859-0969), and he'll give you full information. Ellis has been a regular attendee at the KRC meet for many years, and I know he knows how to have a good time at a meet-so you can look forward to a great time, too! I'll see you there.

AN EVENT for all you Electric fliers to look forward to is the Second Annual Electric Fly-In of the Winston-Salem (NC) Radio Control Club, Inc. which was announced in this column last month. I just received additional information for that August 20-21 meet. First of all, the CD is Charles Spear, 288 Holly Lane, Mocksville, NC 27028. I've met Charles at a KRC meet, and he's a fine person, so I know this should be a fine meet. If you write to him you can get a mailer which includes the meet description and a detailed map to the field, called Thrift Field, located in Advance, NC.

THIS is a very special issue for me, because it represents my fifth year of association with Model Aviation. It's hard for me to believe it, but my first Electric writing appeared in the September 1983 issue-and it seems just like last week! The September '83 issue had the first installment of MA's Electric series, "All About Electrics." Originally intended as a four- or five-part effort, the project grew to a total of 10 installments, wrapping up with the June 1986 issue. Apparently magazine sales did not decline with the "new" Electric coverage offered, so the good folks at MA asked me to continue with a regular monthly column. Thus began the regular "RC Electrics" column in July 1986.

THE SECOND ANNUAL Dallas Electric Aircraft Fliers' (DEAF) All Electric Fun-Fly is scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 1988. Flying times are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Eastfield College in Mesquite, TX. For complete information contact Frank Korman, 5834 Goodwin, Dallas, TX 75206; telephone (214) 821-0390. Last year's meet attracted 13 participants and 50 aircraft, so I'd expect an even bigger turnout this year. Why? 'Cause Electric is growing rapidly, and this growth includes both numbers of meets and numbers at meets! To exemplify what I just said above, last weekend saw the First Annual Lehigh Valley (PA) RC Club Electric Fun-Fly go down in history as an amazing success.
