District III
I have attended many indoor events such as the AMA Expo in California, the Toledo Show, and the Northeast Ohio Electric Festival in Akron, to name a few. As I write this, I just returned from Joe Nall in South Carolina, and what a great way to kick off the flying season after a long, hard winter here in District III.
District III 2014/07
The Greater Pittsburgh Aero Radio Control Society (ARCS) held its second annual Fly Whatcha Brung Fly-in on Sept. 14, 2013, at the K. Leroy Irvis Model Airport. Thirty-eight pilots registered and roughly 100 guests attended. Highlights included flights by SAB Heli Division team pilot Kyle Stacy and Curtis Youngblood pilot Anthony Donzella.

Model aviation has many forms. One we don’t often think about is model rocketry. Did you know your AMA insurance covers model rockets? Did you know the US fields a model rocket team to the FAI model rocket world championships?
District III 2014/05
Leigh Valley RC Society (LVRCS) Pattern/Classic Pattern Contest: As some of you may know, I am an avid Pattern flier from way back. I watched Pattern evolve in the ’60s with the Kwick Fli and Kaos to the ’70s with retracts and tuned pipes to the ’80s with turnaround style using four-strokes to now with electric power becoming the norm.
District III 2014/04
I attended the AMA Expo in Ontario, California, January 10-12 2014. I enjoy seeing new manufacturers’ items and educational and entertaining presentations. I went to as many as I could and I want to share a few things I feel are important to District III.
