Micro-Flying - 2009/01
THE 2008 NEAT [Northeast Electric Aircraft Technology] Fair was
held September 12-14 near Downsville, New York. This has always
been one of my favorite modeling events. Where else can you see
electric-powered models of all sizes and types flying against the
beautiful backdrop of the Catskill Mountains?

As I wrIte this month’s column I am still winding down from a
wonderful weekend of flying at the NEAT (Northeast Electric
Aircraft Technology) Fair, held in Shinhopple, New York,
September 17-19. Because we moved the indoor-flying portion of
the event to the Keystone Indoor Electric Fly in October,
attendance of the true micro-fliers was down.

A HIGHLIGHT of my experiences in
modeling is to see others having fun with
my designs. I developed the concept of the
Classroom Fighters for Plantraco with that
in mind. I thought it would be great if we
had a scale design that flew as slowly and
easily as the Plantraco Butterfly, yet
looked realistic in flight.
