Who hAS the red pen? Model Aviation
now has an Aeromodeling Editor, and I
think you’ll see subtle changes and
improvements in the magazine in the
years to come. Robin “Bob” Hunt is the
new man, and he brings a wealth of
valuable aeromodeling experience to
MA’s pages.
Bob gave modelers reliable information
as the editor of Flying Models for more than
17 years. He was inducted into the AMA
Model Aviation Hall of Fame in August.
Bob is a World Champion (1978) in
Control Line Precision Aerobatics—”Stunt”
to the layperson—and he has several
brilliant model designs to his credit.
Years ago, I built one of Bob’s
SuperTigre .46-powered World Champion
Genesis Stunt models. Because of his
unique ability to impart hands-on
knowledge by way of the written word, the
model turned out a few clicks better than it
might have otherwise.
As a result, my Hunt Genesis has been
on display in the AMA museum since 1987.
Bob has aeromodeling experience across
the board; he is an experienced Radio
Control, Control Line, and Free Flight flier,
a dedicated modeler, and a consummate
craftsman in each aeromodeling category.
I think we’re about to enter a new era
of informative publishing in Model
Aviation’s feature articles.

reading this guy’s things, and I learned a
lot about modeling from him—so will
you. He’s a friend, and is definitely one
of the good guys.

DON'T pull the trigger on me too quickly, but the promised photos of my framed Dynaflite P-51 and the latest installment on scale pilots will have to hold for space in a future issue. The good news, however, is that you will get a look at some of the fine models from the static display areas at this year's WRAM show, instead. The WRAM show is the premier RC show on the eastern seaboard and offers its attenders fabulous static displays in numerous aircraft, boat and car categories. Many crowded aisles of commercial exhibits by almost all of the industry's leading manufacturers are there for the browsing, and endless deals can be found on many new or used kits, engines, radio control systems, and accessory items.

IN 1991, I attended Byron Godberson's Aviation Expo for the first time. By now, many of you will have heard that the Expo has been offered for sale and will not be held in Ida Grove, Iowa again. Perhaps we'll see another party take on this event, perhaps not, but as of this writing, there will be no Expo '92. Byron's Expo was a real thrill for me and will be sorely missed in my schedule of aeromodeling's newsworthy events. This seems an appropriate place for me to reiterate my thank you's to Byron Godberson, Bruce Godberson, Joe Shumacher and Marc Jensen for their gracious hospitality, and for the many seemingly impossible advancements in model aviation made possible because of their unique energies.

THIS MONTH I'll open with a sincere thank you to the Scale readers who have contacted me recently. Your response to the column has been a most pleasant surprise. You see, more than one person had warned me that I wouldn't be getting much help with information from the masses. However, much to my benefit, it seems that those people were mistaken. Your telephone calls and letters have been coming in regularly since the first issue hit the stands, and the information you continue to share with me will make for much more interesting, well rounded reading in the long run. So, again, thank you!

A THANK YOU is in order to all of you who wrote or telephoned me regarding my SE-5a, pictured in the July RC Scale column. Model Aviation's publisher, Ross McMullen casually asked me to include a few random photos with my opening article. The shots of the SE-5a were the only ones I could put my hands on quickly enough to appease him. Even though they were of a large scale model, it seems that these photos generated enough interest, cause, and excuse for me to impart some additional information and background about the model.
