Maxford USA - 2011/03

IF YOU REGUARLY read MA or
Park Pilot magazine, you might have
seen the name Maxford USA,
because its models have been
reviewed in both publications. The
company produces what owner
Richard Sang refers to as “sportscale”
aircraft. The goal of the
product line is to be easy to assemble
and fly while maintaining a scale
appearance.

I AM THE AMA

Greg Hahn
JS: How did you get involved in model
aviation?
GH: I’ve been an airplane nut since before
I can remember. My dad took me in the
car in about 1964 and we sat off the end of
Runway 30 at Dobbins Air Force Base (now
a reserve base) in Georgia, and watched
the C-124 Globemasters do touch-and-gos.
From that time on, all I wanted to do was fl y
airplanes, and I proceeded to do whatever it
took to be around airplanes or airports.
My fi rst real hands-on experience was
the local fl ying fi eld, which in my town
happened to be the high school football fi eld,
so I was introduced to RC by hanging around
after football practice and watching the
locals fl y.
