OMPHOBBY introduced its latest RC helicopter, the M2 V3 Pro, in 2025. The M2 V3 Pro is a micro model helicopter packed with features that make it a fantastic addition to anyone’s fleet or as a first-time model on which to learn. Quite honestly, I did not expect the quality of the design and performance to be as impressive as it is for the investment.
The first time I saw this model up close was at the 2025 International Radio Controlled Helicopter Association (IRCHA) Jamboree. One of the pilots who I was pitting with picked one up and had it flying in minutes. That gave me the spark to try it out.
I had not had any previous versions of this model; however, from what I researched, the M2 V3 Pro has a lot of improvements, including (but not limited to):
- It is approximately 25 grams lighter with a 320-gram total weight, which improves agility, flight times, and overall performance.
- Because of its lighter weight and more efficient power system, flight duration can increase up to 25% while performing hard 3D maneuvers.
- It features a new, lighter, and more powerful main R40X3 motor and a lighter, more powerful R13X3 tail motor, contributing to improved efficiency and performance.
- A rigid carbon-fiber tailboom and a new tail motor mount provide increased durability and a powerful, stable tail hold, similar to larger helicopters.
- The new OFS3 Flight Control System allows for full parameter tuning via a smartphone app.
- The helicopter comes with new Apex 190mm main blades and an Apex 45mm tail blades. Both are lighter and have optimized stiffness for faster rotation and better performance.


I chatted with a few pilots who had this helicopter before I got mine flying. The overwhelming response was, “It flies like a big model!” Once I flew mine, I understood!
For my heli, I used a Futaba 16IZ radio and an OMPHOBBY micro receiver for the Futaba communication. I found a substantial number of resources online for when I needed help.
My model booted up easily, and the convenient Bluetooth module (for gyro manipulation) is remarkably simple to use and tunes the model to what is best for the pilot. The application also allows for wireless updates.
At the time I wrote this, I had logged quite a few flights. The performance is impressive to say the least. I set up the model in the Futaba 16IZ to have the feel of some of the other “sport models” that I have stored. I like to have hovering as my “normal” configuration (at center stick with softer controls) and an aerobatic condition of center stick at zero pitch and a higher head speed.
During my testing, I found that this little model did very well in all of the conditions that I set up. I was not expecting much from my hovering mode (with a little lower head speed) in any sort of wind. When I compared the M2 V3 Pro with a 550-size helicopter, I found that it was very stable and controllable.. I like having hovering conditions to fly slow, backward Figure Eights, and circles. The OMPHOBBY helicopter did this well, which surprised me.
Once I trimmed it a little, which is amazingly simple through the Bluetooth smartphone app, I performed some aerobatics. I was a little apprehensive about the tail authority since it is a motor drive. I applied full pitch, inverted and upright, and found that the tail held extremely well. Backward aerobatics and tail slides confirmed that this tail configuration is rock solid!
