FIRE DOESN’T STOP MEMBER
FROM FLYING

LEONARD GOOD (Kerhonkson, New York) is 85 years old and has been building model airplanes since he was 10 years old. He sent in a few photos that he thought might be of interest to other members and readers. He wrote:
“A few years ago, I had a big fire in the shop where I used to build model planes. The cause was in the electrical wiring. I was not present when it started. The shop was separate from our house and the building survived, but the contents did not, as you can see.”
This has not stopped Leonard from building and flying, however. “I still make planes and fly RC,” he stated. “[I also] teach fifth-grade science.” In the photo from inside his workshop, Leonard noted that the copper coil to the left was a part of a huge Tesla coil that some of his students helped him make. “It used to work great,” he said. The other two photos from the fire were taken outdoors of the wreckage.
Leonard also included a couple of photos of his model aircraft that didn’t burn up or crash.
