District IX
Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming

Traditionally, I’ve used the March issue to showcase some of our hardiest fliers who brave the elements to get a flight in on the very first day of the year. As you can see, some of these clubs have been out there regardless of the weather for many years.
This year, I noticed there is an AMA blog that has followed our lead and shows clubs from across the country. Still, here in the outback of the US, most of our fliers have to do much more than put on a baseball cap and a coat.
I’ll lay down a challenge to members in any other district to come and fly with us next New Year’s Day.

The Omahawks, in Omaha NE, similar to many District IX clubs this year, had much less snow than usual.

Jefco Aeromodel’ers RC Club’s I. C. Carb event goes back 50 years.

The Probusters RC Club, in Rapid City SD, has gathered for their Frost Your Buns event for more than 35 years.

The Beresford Area Radio Flyers, in Beresford SD, has hosted the Frozen Finger Fly for many years.

The Red River R/C Flyers, in Grand Forks ND, had less snow than usual.

The Minot Aircraft Modelers, in Minot ND, shows what real flying is like on New Year’s Day.
