In August, the Newton Area Radio Control Club hosted three training sessions for Boy Scout Troop 494, helping them earn the Aviation Merit Badge. Scouts engaged in hands-on activities, including building aircraft and learning about aviation at the Newton City/County Airport. Club members found the experience rewarding, and many Scouts expressed interest in future RC flight opportunities.

In January, Mike Cross, a beloved member of the Longmont Area Modelers Association, passed away. Known for his friendly nature and contributions as a photographer and event organizer, he was awarded a District Service Award for his dedication. Our condolences go to his family.
The 2026 International Indoor Fun Fly, hosted by the Red River RC Flyers in Grand Forks, ND, features a fun musical chairs landing competition. This event utilizes the Alerus Center thanks to club members volunteering their time.

Tim Jesky's passing is mourned by many, including Cliff Davis from Lincoln Sky Knights, who reported a successful auction event in February. Craig Bastion shared highlights from the Thermopolis Fly In, featuring 39 pilots and a variety of aircraft, along with community support. The Jefco Aeromod’lers RC Club celebrated the start of 2026. The AMA National Membership Meeting is scheduled for May 17 during Joe Nall Week in South Carolina.

The Hardrocker Aero Design team from South Dakota School of Mines will compete in the 2026 SAE Aero Design competition in Texas. Team members dedicated spring break to complete their airplane, facing new rules limiting them to a single 4S 2,200 mAh battery for heavy lifts. AMA advice emphasizes safety assessments at flying fields to prevent liability claims, particularly from non-flying activities. The AMA National Membership Meeting is on May 17 during Joe Nall Week in South Carolina.
